Alana Maiello is a documentary film director and producer whose debut film Esfuerzo explores the generational tension between a grandfather and grandson in the wine industry in Central California. Esfuerzo toured the festival circuit in 2018, winning the audience award for Best Picture at the 2018 Oceanside International Film Festival, and screening at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival, the Portland Film Festival, the Napa Valley Film Festival, Festival de Cannes Short Film Corner, and the Enfoque Film Festival in Puerto Rico. Esfuerzo was also an award nominee for Best Documentary and Best Short Film at the New York City Web Fest, and  was featured on Univision’s morning show, La Primera Hora.

Alana is currently directing and producing a feature documentary about sexual assault. Alana has worked on the behind-the-scenes filming and talent interviews for the following HBO shows: Insecure, The Flight Attendant, His Dark Materials, Barry, The Defiant Ones, Sharp Objects, The Zen Diaries Of Garry Shandling, and Elvis Presley: The Searcher. She also works as a Supervising Producer at Plastik. She has consulted brands including The Killers, Grow, and Blue Fever.
